GasLog orders LNG carrier for new Centrica charter

Monaco-headquartered LNG vessel owner GasLog has ordered a new 180,000 cu m LNG carrier from South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries after sealing a seven-year time charter with UK-based energy company Centrica.

Delivery of the vessel is scheduled for the third quarter of 2020, and GasLog and Centrica have agreed that two other GasLog LNG carriers currently under construction can be swapped into the charter if need be.

Paul Wogan, chief executive officer of GasLog, commented: “I am delighted that Centrica has chosen GasLog to provide them with a second LNG carrier on long-term charter. We appreciate Centrica’s confidence in GasLog’s ability to deliver high operating and safety standards and we look forward to continuing to build our strategic partnership with them.

“Robust LNG demand and supply fundamentals underpin a positive outlook for LNG shipping.”

GasLog currently has a fleet of around 30 LNG carriers.
