GC Rieber Shipping secures work for pipelay vessel

GC Rieber Shipping has won a cable lay charter from James Fisher Marine Services for subsea construction support vessel Polar Onyx in the British Sector of the North Sea.

The charter will commence shortly, and with options is expected to last for more than a month.

Polar Onyx recently completed a Nigerian campaign, and prior to that was famously yanked from the now bankrupt Ceona where it was on a five-year charter, performing advanced deep-water operations with Petronas in Brazil.

“We’re pleased to see continued utilization for Polar Onyx in today’s market and look forward to working with James Fisher for this opportunity,” commented Irene Basili, CEO of GC Rebver Shipping.
