Multipurpose vessel hit by fire off Lianyungang

Multipurpose vessel King Success suffered a fire onboard off Lianyungang yesterday while it was sailing from Rizhao to Masan, Korea.

Lianyungang Maritime Safety Department started a rescue operation after receiving distress call from the ship. A nearby cargo vessel Ren Jian 6 also joined the rescue.

The crewmembers onboard the vessel sealed the cabin on fire, in an attempt to contain the fire, and it was put out. All 25 crewmembers onboard were safely evacuated by the rescue team.

The vessel is owned by Nanjing-based King Ship which runs a fleet of eleven MPPs.
