German broking outfit sets up in Singapore

Singapore has a new shipbroking firm backed by well-known names. Locally headquartered Transport Capital, headed by Philip Clausius, and Hamburg-based broker Toepfer Transport have formed TCT Shipbrokers, initially focusing on containership and MPP chartering services as well as general sale and purchase services.

The new operation will be headed by Richard Wetzki who most recently was the managing director of Harper Petersen Asia, also based in Singapore.

Transport Capital’s Clausius commented: “We have been wanting to extend our shipping related services into the commercial aspects of the business for a while and believe strongly that with the partnership with Toepfer Transport, for whom shipbroking is the core activity, we have found the right formula.”
