Golar LNG inks sale and leaseback with CSSC Shipping

Tor Olav Trøim’s Golar LNG has inked a sale and leaseback deal with CSSC Shipping, the financial leasing unit of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, for one of its 140,000 cu m LNG carriers.

CSSC Shipping has agreed to acquire the vessel at a price of $147m and charter it back to Golar LNG at a total charter cost of $159.65m.

The vessel will be converted into a floating storage re-gasification unit (FSRU) and delivery is scheduled in March 2020.

The charter is for a period of 36 months from the delivery date.

Golar LNG’s fleet comprises of 27 vessels including 16 LNG carriers, eight FSRUs and three FLNGs.
