Gorgon LNG set to flow by year-end

Sydney: The first shipments from Chevron’s giant Gorgon LNG project will commence before year-end, some 12-month later than initially planned.

The project’s head of upstream, Jay Johnson, said the $54bn Western Australia project would start production in the third quarter, with the first exports out before the end of 2015.

Chevron’s other big Australian gas project, Wheatstone, is set to be up and running next year, Johnson said, while Gorgon’s second and third trains should also start in 2016.

ExxonMobil and Royal Dutch Shell have a 25% stake each in Gorgon. Exports are due to head to India, South Korea, Japan and China.
