Gottwald mobile harbour crane delivered to Sohar Port

Muscat: A new Gottwald HMK 6407 crane has been delivered at the C. Steinweg Oman-operated multipurpose general cargo terminal at Sohar Port, Oman.

The crane has a lifting capacity of 100 tonnes, and was delivered to the terminal by SAL Heavy Lift.

“The crane is a significant investment, and one which will support growth at Sohar, as the number of ships and the volume of cargo handled at its terminal continues to grow,” Edwin Lammers, Sohar’s executive commercial manager, said today in a statement.

“Demand for project and break bulk is expected to increase in line with investment in major road and rail projects in Oman, and the additional capacity will be significant going forward,” he continued.

There are now three mobile harbour cranes in operation at the terminal, including the new arrival. [27/01/15]
