Graig offloads handy pair

Cardiff-based Graig Shipping has sold its last two ships in the water with the a pair of seven-year-old, 34,827 dwt vessels – Graig Cardiff and Graig Rotterdam – fetching just under $10m each.

The maritime financial services and shipowning player is best known known for its Diamond Series design of dry bulk vessels. The ships sold are however the Seahorse 35 design vessels, built at Jiangdong shipyard as a part of a series of eight. The vessels were first circulated for sale earlier this year.

Brokers have tied Pola Maritime, a Cyprus-based joint venture of Russian and Belgian interests, to the handy deal.

After the sale Graig will be left with a series of four Diamond 2 ultramaxes under construction in China, with the first one due for delivery later this year.
