Great Eastern adds first aframax of the year

Splash can reveal the identity of the 2009-built tanker India’s Great Eastern Shipping announced it had bought last week.

Greek owner Phoenix Energy Navigation has just offloaded the Phoenix Light aframax to its close friends Great Eastern for a firm $23.25m, $1m more than online portal VesselsValue prices the ship.

Great Eastern has close ties to Phoenix, adding two slightly younger aframaxes from the same outfit in November last year.

The Phoenix Light is the fifth ship Great Eastern has bought in 2017, albeit its first aframax.
