Great Eastern Shipping adds secondhand MR tanker

Great Eastern Shipping has announced that it has signed a contract to acquire a secondhand 48,000dwt medium range product tanker.

The 10-year old Japanese-built vessel, which will be renamed Jag Padma, is expected join the company’s fleet by January 2016.

Great Eastern Shipping currently has three bulker carriers and one product tanker on order. It offloaded its latest newbuild, a kamsarmax from Tsuneishi Heavy Industries (Cebu), a month prior to delivery.

The Indian owner operates a fleet of 30 vessels, comprising twenty-one tankers and nine bulk carriers.
