Greeks add to their growing LNG orderbook

The Greeks continue to dominate the LNG newbuild orderbook with South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) the latest recipient of their largesse.

Brokers Banchero Costa note in its latest weekly report that Tsakos Shipping has signed with HHI for one firm plus one option of a 179,000 cu m LNG carrier design. The firm ship will deliver in December 2021 and comes with a $190m price tag.

Meanwhile, Evangelos Marinakis-led Capital Gas has exercised its option to have the seventh vessel built at HHI since 2018. The vessel will cost $186m and deliver in the first quarter of 2022.
