Grimaldi orders three more car and truck carriers

Athens: Italy’s Grimaldi group has ordered three pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) vessels plus one option to be built at China’s Jinling shipyard in a deal worth $175m.

The 6,700-ceu vessels will have eight decks, four of which will be hoistable, and will be delivered in 2017.

Grimaldi signed a $300m contract in June for five PCTCs with China’s Yangfang shipyard. The contract included options for up to seven additional vessels.

The Yangfang-built vessels will have capacity of 7,800 ceu and are scheduled for delivery in 2017.

The 13-deck vessels will move Fiats and Chryslers from Europe to the US and vice versa.
