Grimaldi in for six ro-ro vessels at Jinling shipyard

Naples-based Grimaldi Group has announced an order for six hybrid ro-ro vessels with Chinese shipyard Jinling for a total investment exceeding $400m.

The deal just sealed is part of a bigger order for 12 news ships set for delivery from 2020 onwards. Each ship will be able to accommodate some 500 trailers thanks to a 7,800 lane metres capacity and 64,000 dwt.

All the newbuildings are based on the Grimaldi Green 5th Generation (GG5G) project and designed by Grimaldi Group technical department in partnership with Knud E. Hansen.

Three of the six first vessels will be deployed by Grimaldi Lines on the Mediterreanean routes while the other three are ice-class ships for Finnlines’s lines in the Baltic sea.
