Grimaldi takes over ro-ro terminal in Savona

Naples-based Grimaldi Group announced the takeover of the shipping agency and freight forwarder company Marittima Spedizioni which entirely controls Savona Terminal Auto.

Savona Terminal Auto is the main ro-ro terminal of the port of Savona, 50 km from Genoa, and is regularly called by Grimaldi’s vessels, both  car carriers and ro-pax units deployed on the motorway of the seas network.

The terminal handles a total annual troughput of some 250,000 vehicles per year, has a storage capacity of over 6,000 vehicles, and is called by over 750 ships every year. It is one of the main gateways for the new vehicles flow from and to Europe, and there are plans for further upgrades to increase storage capacity.
