Gulf Island Fabrication appoints new CEO

Nasdaq-listed Gulf Island Fabrication has appointed Richard Heo as its new president and chief executive officer, replacing Kirk Meche who has served in the role since 2013.

Heo moves from McDermott International and has previously worked for Chicago Bridge & Iron KBR.

Jack Laborde, chairman of Gulf Island, commented: “Richard has extensive industry knowledge and is a proven business leader with a track record of building highly functional sales and operations teams and successfully converting new ideas into sustainable and profitable revenue growth. Richard understands the risks and opportunities inherent in our business and the Board is confident he is the right leader for the Company as we move forward.”

Kirk will assist the company with the leadership transition.

Gulf Island recently completed a strategic review to look for alternative strategies for the company, however it did not turn up any viable proposals.
