Hafnia Tankers seals sale and leaseback for LR1 pair

Denmark’s Hafnia Tankers has completed two sale and leaseback transactions with Sole Shipping Special Opportunities Fund II for 2010-built LR1 tankers Hafnia Asia and Hafnia Arctic.

The vessels have been sold to Sole Shipping’s subsidiary Skaatholmen Shipping, and will be bareboat chartered back for a period of seven years. There are annual purchase options included in the deal from year two onwards and a purchase obligation at the end of the charter.

Hafnia Tankers, which is now 43.5% owned by Singapore’s BW Group, says that the deal will add around $19m to its liquidity.

Earlier this year, the company sealed a sale and leaseback deal in Japan for 2010-built LR1 Hafnia Australia.
