Hanjin Heavy inks $68m order for two small containerships

Athens: An unnamed European shipowner has ordered two new boxships from South Korea’s Hanjin Heavy Industries for a combined price of KRW 75.6bn ($68m).

The contract was signed on May 19, an exchange filing said today. The vessels are expected for delivery next year.

The price is the same as what one unnamed European shipowner paid for two 1,850-teu handysize containerships in November 2014, according to data from VesselsValue.com. The vessels are also expected to be delivered in 2016.

It is therefore possible that the new vessel order is for optional vessels included in this November contract.
