Shanghai: Sinochem Shipping, the shipping arm of Sinochem Group and the largest chemical tanker operator in China, has ordered four 38,000dwt chemical tankers at Jiangsu Hantong Ship Heavy Industry. The order is the first ever chemical tanker order that Hantong has received.
The price for each is about $53m and deliveries will start from the second half of 2016.
Hantong previously specialized in the construction of bulk carriers. It also received its first VLOC order from German owner Oldendorff Carriers earlier this year. [21/07/14]
