Hantong secures four aframax tankers from Cardiff Marine

Jiangsu Hantong Ship Heavy Industry has signed shipbuilding contracts with Cardiff Marine for the construction of four 115,000dwt aframax tankers, with two further options. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

The ships are designed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI) and deliveries will start from 2017.

Economou-led Cardiff Marine ordered two similar aframax tankers at Hantong in July at a price of $46.5m each.
