Harvest International Shipping bulker detained in Shanghai

Shanghai Maritime Court has detained Panama-flagged bulk carrier Orchid Dragon at the request of Shanghai Huiyang Ship Equipment due to unpaid debts of $170k.

The ship is owned by Korea-registered Harvest International Shipping and managed by Korea’s Hayne Shipping.

When executing the detention, the court found that the crew onboard the vessel are owed about $300k in unpaid salaries. The crew has been offered legal assistance.

After being contacted by the court, the owner explained that the company is facing financial difficulties and will try to make payment as soon as possible to get the vessel released.
