Hehai Shipping runs its first LNG-powered vessel

Shanghai: Jiangsu Hehai Shipping announced that its first LNG-powered ship has been approved to start operation.

The company has ordered five LNG-powered ships at a cost of RMB20.5m each.

The company is also expanding cargo resources with deals lined up with nearby energy companies.

Beijing is pushing more domestic shipping operators to adopt LNG-powered vessels in a bid to cut pollution. Tax exemptions are now on offer for lines choosing LNG-fuelled vessels.
