Chairman of Dutch offshore outfit Oceanteam Hessel Halbesma has resigned from his role “in order to mitigate against further repercussion against the company and to diffuse the misinformation that is circulating”.
Halbesma’s resignation comes just a week after his son, Haico Halbesma, resigned from his role of CEO to help the company “enter into quieter waters”.
Hessel Halbasma has faced accusations from ex-CFO Torbjorn Skulstad and a minor shareholder that he was “skimming-off money” from the company. The company has also recently completed a restructuring and even been involved in a spat with KPMG over auditing issues.
Halbasma’s departure came with a scathing letter taking aim at various parties, including Skulstad and former Oceanteam Solutions MD Lex van Doorn, who Halbasma alleges committed “sophisticated procurement fraud” while at the company.
The full contents of the letter can be read here.
