Hiep Phuoc to become port zone

Hanoi: Ho Chi Minh City is to transform Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park in Nha Be District into a port-based special economic zone. The area is located along the Soai Rap river.

Intermodal connections are to be built to the port area and local authorities aim to ramp up cargo capacity there in the coming decade.

The Soai Rap river dredging project is nearly complete, and the Soai Rap waterway is expected to open to traffic by the end of June.

The river has been dredged to the depth of 11.5 m, permitting 50,000 dwtvessels to reach the Hiep Phuoc Port Complex.  [29/05/14]
