Hudong-Zhonghua boss arrested

Shanghai: Gu Tiquan, the head of one of China’s most successful shipyards, has been arrested. The boss of Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard has been taken in by the authorities who said Gu was suspected of “serious violations”. The Shanghai discipline inspection commission did not say what specific crimes Gu has been accused of.

China has been on an anti-corruption drive for the past six months.

Hudong-Zhonghua is one of the top yards in China. Part of state-run China State Shipbuilding Co, the yard built the nation’s first LNG carriers and has one of the highest priced orderbooks across the People’s Republic.  [26/05/14]
