Hundreds of Bilfinger UK offshore workers set to strike

Hundreds of offshore workers are set to participate in a fresh wave of strike action in an ongoing pay row, with dozens of installations expected to be hit next month.

The UK’s Unite Union said about 600 workers at Bilfinger UK had turned down a new offer and announced planned strike dates starting on June 1, ending on June 3, and then from June 8 to June 10.

The offer of a 6% pay increase was rejected by workers on the offshore assets of operators Ithaca, CNRI and TAQA, separate from those members who took part in the previous round of 48-hour strike action involving 1,200 offshore workers earlier this month. Around 200 Bilfinger contractors working on BP and Repsol assets, however, did participate in the strike action.

Around 800 Bilfinger workers across over thirty offshore installations will now take part in two new 48-hour stoppages, which Unite predicts will impact production and planned work.
