Arne Fredly’s new VLCC vehicle, Oslo-listed Hunter Group, has pressed forward in a big way with its VLCC fleet growth plans.
The company has secured refund guarantees for four VLCC newbuilds ordered at South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) last month, and has pushed ahead with first instalments on the ships.
In addition, Hunter has declared options on three further VLCCs priced at $82.8m each, with an additional investment of $2.7m each for scrubbers. Deliveries are scheduled for May, June and August 2020.
The company has also secured options on a further three VLCCs, each pricesd at $92m including scrubbers and scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2021. The options are available through to mid-August 2018.
