Hyundai Heavy Industries suspends production after fatal incident

South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) suspended production yesterday following a fatal accident that occurred at the yard this week.

According to HHI, work at its Ulsan yard has been halted for safety checks after a worker at the yard died from burns. The suspension remains today at the order of the Ministry of Employment and Labor.

The details of the incident were not disclosed.

HHI said the yard is currently reviewing risk factors and hopefully to resume work soon.
