Hyundai Heavy preferred bidder for series of SK LNG ships

Hyundai Heavy Industries has been selected as preferred bidder to build a series of LNG ships for compatriot energy developer SK E&S.

SK E&S has chosen HHI to construct two or three 180,000 cu m membrane LNG carriers, which will be operated by subsidiary SK Shipping.

Official contract signing is expected in the first half of 2016 with delivery in early 2019, in time to start shipping gas from Freeport LNG in the US to South Korea.
