Hyundai Samho to build LNG-fuelled aframaxes for Sovcomflot and Shell

Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries will be build four LNG-fuelled ice-class aframaxes for Russia’s Sovcomflot. The 114,000 dwt quartet are thought to be costing $240m in total.

The tankers will be the first to run on LNG and have been designed and ordered in association with energy major, Shell. The ships, which deliver late 2018 and early 2019, will be chartered by Shell to ship Russian crude.

The LNG-fuelled ships are costing approximately $10.5m more than conventional aframaxes.
