Manila-headquartered International Container Terminal Services Inc (ICTSI) is stumping up $100m for the second phase development of Basra Gateway Terminal (BGT) at Umm Qasr in Iraq.

Two new berths will be developed incorporating a 20 ha yard area thereby doubling annual BGT container handling capacity to 1.2m teu. The berths, due for completion within 18 months, will be able to handle ships of up to 10,000 teu capacity.
