ICTSI wins Melbourne port contract

Manila: Fast expanding International Container Terminal Services Inc (ICTSI) has won a $509m contract to build and operate a new terminal in Melbourne, Australia.

ICTSI said in a statement its unit Victoria International Container Terminal has signed the contract with Port of Melbourne Corp, which includes the financing of a new international container terminal at the Port of Melbourne.

ICTSI owns 90% of unit VICTL while Australian partner Anglo Ports holds 10 the remainder.

The contract marks ICTSI’s entry into Australia, and further extends its portfolio of managed ports to 30 terminals across six continents.

“This new concession represents a major milestone for ICTSI, not only because it is our first concession in Oceania, but also because it establishes us as one of very few truly global operators with facilities on six continents,” Christian Gonzalez, ICTSI head of the Asia-Pacific region, said.  [05/05/14]
