Indonesia cruise business soars in 2013

Jakarta: Indonesia has hit a new high with 44% growth in the number of cruise ship calls during the course of this year.
Ports calls for 2013 have reached 309, up by 44% compared to 2012, while the number of foreign cruise tourists brought to Indonesia reached 159,578, up 40% according to Esthy Reko Astuti, marketing director general of the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry.
“These are the best figures that have ever been recorded in our cruise industry,” Esthy said, “We want everyone to keep up the good work on further developing cruise sector, particularly port infrastructure, it is a niche market that contributes a lot of revenue to the country,” she continued.
