Indonesian tanker catches fire off Northport

Kuala Lumpur: Indonesian tanker, MT Nur Eye 1, caught fire around 2 nautical miles off Northport yesterday afternoon.

The fire was put out by a rescue team sent by Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, with all eleven crew members rescued, and no oil spill reported.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations, Mohd Sani Harul said the fire was believed to have been caused by a faulty engine. The vessel’s engine room, bridge and the stern were destroyed in the fire. [29/04/114]
