International Andromeda Shipping forks out $100m for LR2 resale pair

Monaco-based International Andromeda Shipping has just inked a deal to purchase a pair of LR2 tankers currently under construction at South Korea’s Daehan Shipbuilding for $100m, broker sources tell Splash.

Both the deliveries are scheduled for the second quarter 2020, and the pair will go on long-term charter to Clearlake.

International Andromeda Shipping was founded in 1992 by a group of professionals already actively involved in international oil trading and shipmanagement, with the aim of owning and managing a fleet of tanker vessels and gas carriers. The Monaco-based company is controlled by Giangiacomo Serena di Lapigio and Massimo Filosa, and in 2017 Paolo Scerni became s a minority shareholder.

Andromeda’s fleet up to now was made up of seven tankers with capacity ranging from 37,000 to 150,000 dwt according to the company’s website.
