Interpol called in to track down pirates

Hanoi: Vietnamese investigators are to work with with Interpol to track down the pirates who attacked a Vietnamese oil tanker off Singapore this month.

Around $1.4m of gas oil was syphoned off the Sunrise 689 tanker when it was attacked by armed pirates on October 2.

The ship was reported missing after maritime authorities said they lost contact with the vessel when it was around 120 nautical miles (222 km) northeast of Singapore. The ship was released after a week.  [27/10/14]
