Investigators probe HK-Macau ferry accident

Hong Kong: Marine investigators are looking into what a hydrofoil hit in the early hours this morning that forced it to rear up at full speed, injuring 80 people. The vessel hit an “unidentified object” off Hei Ling Chau island, the local marine department said, as the vessel sped from Macau to Hong Kong. The accident comes 13 months after Hong Kongers were shocked when a ferry collided into a cargoship, killing 39 people. The city is one of the busiest ports in the world, but prides itself on its safety record.  [29/11/13]
