Iran Navy points finger over aiding of pirates

Tehran: Iran's Navy Commander, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayari, believes there are some countries helping and supporting pirates in the Gulf of Aden, providing them with fast boats and modern combat weapons.

According to Fars News Agency, he made the remarks on the sidelines of an army ceremony, saying: "Some countries have provided pirates lately with modern equipment such as fast boats and sophisticated weapons. These pirates were never capable of attacking vessels in such methods".

Sayari pointed to the success Iranian warships had in preventing pirates from attacking vessels in the international water, as well as in the Gulf of Aden, stressing that the Iranian Naval Forces will continue their missions in the area in order to protect the interests of the country in the international waters.
