Iran’s first export aframax nearly ready

Dubai: The managing director of Iran Marine Industrial Company, an affiliate of Sadra group of companies, Salman Zarbi announced that construction of the first Iran-made aframax oil tanker ship is complete and the giant vessel will be ready for delivery soon.

"The first aframax vessel with a capacity of 113,000 tons is ready for delivery to Venezuela," Zarbi told the official Iranian newswire Fars.

The vessel is 250 m long, 44 m wide, 21 m high and can move at knots an hour.

Iran and Venezuela signed a contract for the construction of four aframax vessels in 2009, Iran becoming the first country in the region to build such ships. It made one for domestic purposes that started operations last July.  [16/05/13]
