Iranian tanker rescued from pirates off Yemen

Muscat: An Iranian oil tanker has been rescued from pirates by the Iranian Navy 120 miles off the coast of Al-Mukalla, Yemen.

The tanker was rescued by a Jamaran destroyer and its escorting Bushehr destroyer, which comprises the 32nd fleet of the Iranian Army’s Naval Force, Mehr News reports.

This is the fourth Iranian oil tanker to be rescued from pirate attacks by Iran’s 32nd fleet.

The fleet patrols the Iranian Army’s First Operational Zone, which from ranges from Bandar Abbas, Iran, through the Gulf of Aden to several Omani ports to al-Mukalla, Yemen, and Ra’as al-Erah in Djibouti. [07/01/15]
