Iraq pipeline to Aqaba on the drawing board

Dubai: Iraq is negotiating with 12 international companies to complete an oil pipeline to the port of Aqaba in Jordan.

The Wall Street Journal said that it has got the list of candidates to build a section of pipeline to transport oil along the 1,680 kilometers extending from the port of Basra in southern Iraq to the Jordanian port of Aqaba in the Red Sea, avoiding Iraq's dependence on export platforms in the Persian Gulf.

The cost of the pipeline is $18bn.  [09/09/13]
