IRI, world’s largest flag for LNG ships, eyes more Qatar business

Singapore: The president of one of the world’s largest shipping registers has spoken to GulfShip News on the importance of the Middle East to world shipping. Bill Gallagher, president of International Registries, Inc (IRI), which administers the world’s third largest flag, the Marshall Islands, said that he was “pleased with developments in the Middle East”. IRI has recently doubled the size of its Dubai office and Gallagher does not rule out a Doha presence going forward. “I could see us doing something in Qatar in the future,” Gallagher said, noting the huge LNG developments in the country. IRI is the largest flag in the world for LNG ships.

On Middle East shipping developments, Gallagher noted: “You see this while interaction with petrochemical companies which mixes well with our natural strengths with tankers and with offshore.”  [16/04/13]
