IRISL boss hopeful sanctions will be lifted

Dubai: Sanctions against Iran's shipping lines may be lifted, the Mehr News Agency quoted the managing director of Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) Mohammad Hossein Dajmar as saying on February 15.

IRISL has suffered from severe sanctions against Iran in the past couple of years, but a suspension on oil trading sanctions for six months that has just come into effect might lead to other trading limitations being lifted soon, Dajmar said. Container calls by global carriers to Iran have also dwindled in the past 12 months.

IRISL, whose fleet stands at around 113 ships totaling 3.3m dwt, has been hit by sanctions against it from as far back as 2008.  [16/02/14]
