IRISL launches Caspian service

Dubai: A subsidiary of Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) has launched a series of new routes across the Caspian connecting Russia and Kazakhstan, local media in Tehran reports.

IRISL will carry six sailings a month on the new services.

The line has been the subject of Western sanctions for a couple of years, which has forced it to seek out new markets. Growth in trade between Iran and Central Asian neighbours has soared in recent years.
