IRISL plans fleet expansion
Dubai: The boss of Iranian containerline has told local newswire Tasnim that sanctions against it saw it forfeit up to 30 newbuilding orders, but it is now ready to beef up its fleet.
Managing director Mohammad Hossein Dajmar said: “We had ordered foreign manufacturers to build 30 ships for us, but the sanctions stopped the process."
However, with sanctions easing from last month, Dajmar said: “We will develop comprehensive plans to expand activities of the shipping line.”
The managing director said IRISL currently operates a fleet of 148 ships. [06/02/14]
