Island Drilling awarded Duncan contract by Cairn Energy

Norway’s Island Drilling Company has been awarded a contract by Capricorn Norge for its 2012-built semi-submersible rig Island Innovator.

The rig has been contracted to drill a single well at Block 35/8 at the Duncan prospect in the North Sea. There is also options for an additional two wells.

Drilling is scheduled to commence in the first half of 2020, and Island Drilling Management will be responsible for the operation of the rig.

Capricorn Norge is a wholly owned subsidiary of Cairn Energy, and the operator of License 880, Duncan prospect with a 60% interest.

Grant Rowles

Grant spent nine years at Informa Group based in London, Sydney, Hong Kong and Singapore. He gained strong management experience in publishing, conferences and awards schemes in the shipping and legal areas, working on a number of titles including Lloyd's List. In 2009 Grant joined Seatrade responsible for the commercial development of Seatrade’s Asia products. In 2012, with Sam Chambers, he co-founded Asia Shipping Media.
