Island Drilling rig awarded one-well contract by Faroe Petroleum

Norway’s Island Drilling has been awarded a contract by Faroe Petroleum Norge for the utilisation of 2012-built semi-submersible rig Island Innovator.

Drilling is scheduled to commence in in the third quarter of 2019, for one well at the PL888 Canela license, located west of the Heidrun field.

“Island Drilling Company AS is grateful that the Island Innovator has been chosen for this scope,” the company said.

The rig was awarded a two-well contract by CNOOC Petroleum Europe in March for drilling at the Howick prospect, west of Shetland.
