Jakarta box volumes buoyant

 

Singapore: Half a million boxes separated Singapore from top boxport Shanghai in the first nine months of the year, according to Alphaliner statistics with the Chinese financial megalopolis coming out on top 24.2m teu versus the Lion Republic’s total of 23.7m. 

Growth for the top 25 boxports in the world was sluggish at 4.5%, down by nearly 50% over the same period in 2011. The fastest grower in Southeast Asia was Jakarta which saw its container throughput jump by 13.9% to hit 5.6m teu in the first nine months in 2012.  [21/11/12]
