Jaldhi behind acquisition of MR pair

Jaldhi has been revealed as the buyer of a pair of Japanese MR tankers, sold by JX Ocean last month for a total of $30m.

Brokers reported the sale of the two 2009-built 46,000 dwt MR tankers, High Beam and High Current, last month. Lorentzen & Stemoco had identified the buyer as Danish owner Celsius, while other brokers pointed to Greek buyers.

Jaldhi, established in Singapore in 2004 and part of India’s Bothra Group, mostly charters in vessels.

It currently owns a single Japanese panamax bulker, the 2008-built Jal Kumud, according to VesselsValue. In August, the company offloaded Japanese panamax bulker Jal Pari to the Akij Group in Bangladesh. The vessel has since been renamed to Akij Glory.
