Denmark’s Janchart Shipping has added another handy bulker in a deal that sees one Greek company exit shipowning. Janchart is understood to have paid $6.85m for the 14-year-old, 33,600 dwt Gea, the last ship owned by Ulises Naviera.
Fast growing Janchart restarted building up its fleet in 2015 focusing on purchasing only elderly, Japanese-built ships. The fleet today numbers 12 handies. Janchart was established in 1992 by its current director, Jan Jørgensen. The outfit is also active as brokers in dry cargo chartering mainly in the handysize segment.
