Japanese in for more LNG carriers

Shipping giants Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) and Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) are ordering two LNG ships each in partnership with fellow Japanese firm Chubu Electric Power.

The ships will be split two a piece at Kawasaki Heavy Industries and at MI LNG, a joint venture between Mitsubishi Heavy and Imabari.

These new ships will transport LNG for a 20-year period from the Freeport LNG Project in the US, in which Chubu Electric Power has an equity interest.
